Benefits 

A member has access to use of all the equipment and facilities of the club and training available from member instructors. A new member will be provided all the flight training needed to obtain a glider pilot licence at only the cost of the launch and rental of the aircraft.

Training

Training is provided by the members who have instructor rating. The Chief Flight Instructor provides the leadership of this group. The steps to licencing (ab initio) are:

  • Ground School (Theory and Background for flight training)
  • Flight Training from instructors
  • Student Licencing with Medical Certificate
  • Testing for Solo
  • Training while Solo
  • Flight Testing for proficiency for licencing
  • Ministry of Transport written test for licence

Responsibilities 

Glider flying is a group activity and needs contributions from all members. The club needs field managers, winch drivers, instructors as well as many other helpers to allow the operation to run smoothly, safely, and at reasonable cost. Members can also contribute by running wings, washing, mowing, painting, building, fixing ,etc.

Fees

CLUB MEMBERSHIP FEES, PER YEAR

  • Regular:  CAD $150.00/Year,  CAD $200 for First Time Member (includes SAC membership of CAD $120.00)
  • Youth:  CAD $75.00/Year, CAD $125 for First Time Member (includes SAC membership of CAD $60.00)
  • Half-Year: ½ of the above yearly membership fees. (After August 1st and only for new members.)

FLYING and LAUNCHING FEES:

  • CAD $30.00  per hour for club gliders
  • CAD $5/ Winch Launch and CAD $0.50 /Air Time Minute
