Congratulations to Jannie Kemp, who completed his first glider solo with the club at Birch Hills Airport.
A first solo is the milestone every student pilot works toward. After dual lessons with an instructor beside you, you take the glider up on your own for the first time. Students can solo from age 14, and instruction at the club is free: members pay $5 for a winch launch and $30 an hour for the glider.
